Robert Downey Jr.’s Best Movies
Robert Downey Jr. was born in Greenwich Village, New York City. He’s the son of the independent filmmaker Robert Downey Sr., who actually gave his son his first big screen role in Pound, where Downey plays a puppy. He was only 5 years old. Downey has been acting in films for over twenty years, though most of his top films have been made more recently. Just when you thought his career might have been going downhill a little, he always finds a way to bounce back and revive his career to new heights.

Chaplin
This film, from director Sir Richard Attenborough follows the true story of the late and great comedian/actor/filmmaker Charles Chaplin. To put it simply, Downey nails Chaplin. He was so believable that it brought Downey his first Oscar and solidified him as an A-list actor.
Iron Man
Did you ever think you would see Robert Downey Jr. in a super hero film? He was actually quite good in the film, and really took the superhero type film to a whole new level with clever acting and witty delivery. The action and special effects are intense in high definition.
Tropic Thunder
You know the black guy in Tropic Thunder. If you can believe or not, that’s actually Robert Downey Jr. behind the make-up. The idea by itself is hysterical and the movie was made even better by the performance Downey brought to it.
Zodiac
Downey portrays a San Francisco based cartoonist who becomes an amateur detective obsessed with tracking down the Zodiac killer. He teams up with Jake Gyllenhaal’s character as he attempts to track the legendary zodiac killer.
Good Night, and Good Luck
This film co-written and directed by George Clooney, is about the struggle of television journalist Edward R. Murrow and his conflict with the U.S. governments attempt to blacklist suspected communists. Check with your local provider to see if it’s available on satellite TV—you won’t want to miss it!
Sherlock Holmes
This is Robert Downey Jr.’s latest film that came out in 2009. Downey attempts to bring new life into the classic character, with all the old classic catch phrases you might hear from the famous sleuth. Of course old Watson (plated by Jude Law) is right at his side ready to correct him when he’s wrong.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
This film gives a new way to look at film noir, but does so in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. It is based in part on the novel Bodies Are Where You Find Them by Brett Halliday.
Natural Born Killers
Chilling and surreal, Oliver Stone brings us into the sick world of the serial killer. This film was actually based on a screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino, but Oliver stone came in and made some pretty significant changes to it.
U.S Marshals
This is a sort of sequel to the movie The Fugitive, but suffers a little from a lousy plot. But leave it up to guys like Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Downey Jr. to make up for an otherwise lousy movie. Maybe Downey should think about playing more villains.
