independent movie theatres

separate issue from the movie?
I'm thinking of making an independent film that most may never see the inside of a room film. However, I would probably make DVD copies of the same for my friends and people who were in it and helped me do it. if you include a photo of a sign marks the boundary of a town or city can legally have to pay any license fees or filming?
If the sign is public opinion (and for to public view) no need to pay anything, not even asking permission. Being in the public eye and intended as such, permission is implicit. This would like having to ask permission from each owner of a building in the city of New York permission to take an aerial photograph of the city (although many are owned building designs the architect). Copyright means "copy". You are not copying the sign. You are not yet using the sign beyond an entry level. If that was making a film about the sign, in particular — How did that made her, what was done, etc, etc, then you may have to ask permission.
