Television is not the best form of entertainment for our children. This we know. If our children for us to be constantly involved in books, crafts, simulation games, and mind expansion and other activities during the day. However, television is still there in our lives for a reason or another, and certainly our children have fun watching a program on television. I recently discovered the joys of TiVo and all the advantages offered to me as a father. Advantages such as removing ads, having prepared a list of prerecorded educational programs for children, and be able to filter the rest of television unwanted.
We've had TiVo in our house for a year, and now I have two years of age and one child, four year old daughter. Before consenting to television satellite, with all its hundreds of (and useless) channels, we had little or no television in our lives. Starting as newlyweds, decided not to have cable TV at all. Just watching rented movies and built a collection of health programs to watch on our DVD player. It was fun and easy to do. Then came a baby. I did not work and was home most of the time with our first child. So we get the basic channels for about ten dollars a month. Then came our son, and as my daughter also grew, we began to discover the world of children's television programming and was nice to have some health programs that our children enjoyed seeing occasionally. When I finally signed up for TiVo, I was very skeptical of having to much TV available in our house. However, I was surprised to discover that TiVo actually offer many benefits to parents like myself scrutiny.
First, TiVo can completely eliminate trade. This is very good when we see our favorite crime at night or are we seeing a movie on TV. Only towards forward through all the ads coming on the program. But even so much more beneficial is the removal of ads on children's programming. With TiVo, you can record Little Einsteins on the Disney Channel or Curious George on PBS and have no business. This is great because most of the ads actually are unhealthy for children of all ages, especially younger minds. A fast-paced commercial, high traffic nature has been linked to the hard drive and facilitation destroys the attention spans of children. When children are exposed to constant high rate announcements of your mind gets used to that kind of vision and has trouble calm down and be able to do things like read a book or sit and do homework. So when parents can eliminate these destructive "noise" of television programs their children, both parents and children are much better.
Just as you have the ability to remove watch TV ads, also has the power to completely eliminate all unwanted channels and programming. You can literally pick and choose the programs you want to see their children and eliminate all access to television regular, unedited. Instead of having their children just turn on the television in the morning and back through endless channels of programming should not be seeing or hearing, find something interesting to do, you can have a ready list of fun, but educational programs so that they can choose from – free from all filth "and regular television commercials mostly has to offer. Their children are happy because they have all these pre-recorded commercial free, programs to choose from and is happy because they are choosing from a list of shows that you already approve, or when larger, stops, prompting kids to get up and do something else.
We, as parents, we know that television, even the best for children, not always the best past time activities. However, when they do watch TV, is good to know that you can still be in control of information that comes into their impressionable young minds.
